14 supercars were involved in a huge crash in Japan on Sunday. Including 8 Ferraris, 3 Mercedes and a Lamborghini, the damage is estimated at almost $3.9 million, making it the most expensive street car crash of all time. The high speed crash was so severe that all supercars were totalled and will have to be scrapped. 10 drivers - 5 men and 5 women - were reported to be hurt in the accident, however their condition was not life threatening.
A total of 20 supercars were travelling between Hiroshima and Kyushu along the China Road when the accident took place. The crash occurred when one Ferrari lost control in wet conditions. He is reported to have hit the central reservation and bounced into the path of the other supercars. It took 6 hours to clean up the twisted metal left behind by the accident along 400 meters of the road. Reports indicate that 2 Ferrari 430s, 2 Ferrari 355s, 2 Ferrari 360 Modenas, a Lamborghini Diablo and a Toyota Prius hybrid were all involved in the crash. Highway patrol cop Eiichiro Kamitani said: "I've never seen such a thing. "Ferraris rarely travel in such large numbers." "It is highly possible that they were driving in couples." It is thought that the convoy was heading to a supercar gathering organized near Hiroshima. (Image: AP) Related items
