If owning a new Aston Martin Rapide wasn't enough, you could now also live out your James Bond fantasy with an integrated Jaeger LeCoutre Rapide Transponder watch. A snip at £22,000, the timepiece allows you to lock and unlock the 5-door supercar by simply touching its face. Dubbed the 'world's most expensive car key', this is a great example of real life imitating the movies!
Jaeger had to reduce the size of the transponder that sends the signal to the car to make it fit. An additional 18 months were required to adjust the hundreds of tiny components to ensure the timekeeping wouldn't be affected by the transponder's eletrical field. Thanks to its touch-sensitive screen, no buttons are required to operate this high-tech car key. The watch's sapphire crystal face features 2 zones to open and lock the car. Pressing between 8 and 9 unlocks the car, while pressing between 3 and 4 ensures it is locked. Yet another argument to take a closer look at the new Aston Martin Rapide! If buying an Aston Martin isn't in your budget - let alone this £22,000 option - you could consider entering Best of the Best's current supercar competition. The top prize is a brand new 510 bhp Aston Martin V12 Vantage with a retail price of £135,000. You could win this sensational supercar for just £20. Alternatively, you can read the original story on Yahoo Cars, together with a review of the Aston Martin Rapide. Related items
