The new Lamborghini Gallardo supercar is the ultimate tribute to Valentino Balboni. Lambo's most famous test driver, he helped hone practically every model off the production line since 1973. The result, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Valentino Balboni, comes with a 5.2 litre V10 engine tuned to produce 550 hp. It is the 1st rear wheel drive Lamborghini for over 10 years and comes with reduced curb weight - offering a "very special kind of active driving fun" in Lamborghini's own words.

Balboni worked a total of 40 years for Lamborghini and is now considered a true ambassador of the brand. During this period, he helped test every prototype built by Lambo, providing a unique insight into the development of these exceptional supercars.

This special edition 550-2 model is limited to only 250 units and is designed to offer unique character and driving experience. With a dry weight of only 1,380 kgs, this new Gallardo will take you from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in a staggering 3.9 seconds and can reach a top speed of 320 km/h (199 mph).

Careful attention has also been dedicated to the design and equipment of this model to reinforce its exclusivity. A strip in white and gold runs from the front panel over the roof all the way to the rear spoiler, echoing the look of classic sports cars of the '70s. It comes in 8 colours and the classic sporting look continues inside the supercar.

The model also sports lots of new equipment which you won't find elsewhere. In addition to the extensive new leather features inside the car, you'll also find a transparent engine cover, a rear view camera and a navigation system with Bluetooth. What's more, a lifting system for the front axle will help make it easier to drive over obstacles. Further options are available, such as e-gear transmission and carbon ceramic brakes.

With a suggested retail price of €162,200 without taxes in Europe; $219,800 in the US and £137,900 in the UK, this is sure to be one of the most desirable Gallardos yet!
